John Sullivan
John Sullivan is a national award winning art teacher and drama coach with over three decades professional experience in art instruction. A fixture at Barnstable High School for 32 years, he taught fine arts, ceramics, sculpture, pottery, animation and cartooning, graphic arts and stagecraft. On the stage he taught acting, set design, set construction, mask making, make-up, stage writing and costume design. In 2004, he was inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame in Emporia, Kansas. His drama club was voted Best in the Northeast by Stage Directions Magazine.
John has animated on the film ThePagemaster (Turner Feature Animation) and for the website Radio Disney (Walt Disney Company). He animated a thirty second commercial for Pizza Shark of Harwich, Dennis and Chatham, Cape Cod. As a children’s book author, he wrote and drew a series of children’s books, including The Hershkins, for Hershey Park (a theme park in Pennsylvania); My Tree and Me, a children's book about the importance of planting trees for wOURld productions; and Positopia World: the Hidden Portal about controlling emotions.
Based in Hyannis, Massachusetts, John loves gardening, raising Koi, and anything creative (from designing parade floats to mini golf courses). And, he’s a professional Santa.
John received his BFA Illustration & Filmmaking and a Masters in Education, K-12 from Massachusetts College of Art (MassArt). He holds certificates from The British Film Institute at the University of Sterling, Scotland, and CALARTS School for Animation in Valencia, California.
