Kelly Meyer
Kelly was born into an art centric family. Her father was a teacher, historian, playwright, director, actor and her mother’s artistic talents included playing the piano, painting landscapes and acting in community theater productions. She attended Choate Rosemary Hall, a private boarding school in Connecticut. The institution is known for its strong concentration in the arts. Kelly savored every vocal lesson, weaving, drawing and ceramic class, a cappella group, choir and play practice. Voice was her definite instrument of choice. Looking back on selecting a top creative arts high school to attend, she knew Choate was the best choice for her.
Kelly attended Rollins College where she received her BA in Psychology as well as a minor in Music, and followed with an MS in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University. In the years after receiving her degree, she taught elementary school and served as both Lead Instructor and Director of the Preschool at The Independent Day School, a private feeder school to Choate. As an Academic Therapist for elementary and middle school students, Kelly individualized instruction to serve the specific needs of each student. Furthermore, Kelly held a position in admissions at Choate assisting families as they navigated the rigorous application process. At Choate she experienced first hand the ever changing institutional priorities that high schools have when selecting their incoming classes. She also learned about the other competitive creative high schools that these same students were considering, and how each school had its own set of requirements. Kelly recognized the challenges faced by families as they negotiated the complex and detail oriented application process.
Kelly is excited to share her wealth of knowledge and support to families and students with the goal of finding the best comprehensive school fit for their talents to flourish and their academic potential to be realized.
