NYU, Tisch
We began working together during the summer before 12th grade when Sam realized that she needed help with her Common Application essay as well as her supplemental essays. She had a non-traditional path during high school, attending a large public high school for 9th and 10th grades and then transitioned to home-schooled beginning in the middle of 11th grade. Because of this, while she was tremendously motivated, she lacked the structure and resources that attending school provides so she looked to us for guidance.
She presented a diverse background and wanted to both highlight that but also wanted to provide schools the confidence that she was a committed student in her craft. Together we brainstormed her topic so school could see that it was specifically her breadth of experiences would be a positive contribution in the small group of performers in her desired program. She wrote a very personal essay that showed the admissions committee that she could in fact be successful in their very demanding program.
We worked with her to craft a strong Common Application essay as well as compelling school specific supplemental essays. We’re very happy that her determination and confidence gained her admission into NYU Tisch, one of the country’s top BFA theatre programs.
